Synth/rock band Kaleid (pronounced "collide"), out of Champaign, Illinois, announces the release of Worlds Collide. Worlds Collide, the debut album from Kaleid features a variety of soulful, energetic, and somewhat moody alternative songs. Blending guitar and melodic piano with an electronic backbone, Kaleid demonstrates how synth pop and rock can be combined to create a distinct alternative sound. Kaleid, founded by Chris Parker, is inspired by such bands as Depeche Mode, Garbage, Live, and Tears for Fears. Simultaneously drawing on all influences, Kaleid combines colorful guitar textures with piano and pulsating electronic undercurrents for a warm, almost hypnotic sound. Lyrically, Kaleid touches on the ups and downs of life, creating moods and atmospheres that anyone can relate to. Kaleid's songs feature a wide variety of styles including blues and classical influences, while still maintaining a distinct alternative synth/rock sound which the band has developed into their signature sound. Worlds Collide, professionally recorded at United Technique Recording in Chicago Illinois, is highlighted by the high energy of The Finest Thread, Bombshell, and Crash and Burn, as well as melodic Green Earth. The album features Chris Parker performing guitars, keyboards, piano, bass, violin, drum programming, and backing vocals. Kaleid is promoting Worlds Collide on commercial and college radio stations, and may be visited online at the official Kaleid website at www.kaleid.com.
